The Sixth GECF Summit in Doha
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) was born in 2001 in Tehran. Since the establishment of this forum, 23 meetings have been held at the ministerial level and five at the higher level. The sixth summit of this forum is scheduled to be held on February 22nd (Tuesday) in Doha. Before the start of this meeting, the 17 ministers of the forum will attend a meeting on February 21st.
It should be noted that, the first time, the members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) discussed the possibility of holding a GECF Summit on April 19, 2010, and then finalized the decision to hold a GECF Summit at the 11th ministerial meeting on December 2, 2010 in Doha, Qatar.
The sixth summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is scheduled for Tuesday (22nd of February) in Doha. Iran will participate in this meeting at the highest level. The members of Gas Exporting Countries Forum have 44% of world gas production, 67% of world gas reservoir, 64% of pipeline gas transmission and 66% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade. Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela are the 11 main GECF members, and Malaysia, Norway, Iraq, Peru, Azerbaijan and the UAE are observers.
